Understanding and Deciphering Conduct Risk: meeting the challenges of overseas and Japanese regulatory agendas

Event Report

Mr. Tsuyoshi Oyama, Partner, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu LLC

Mr. David Samach, Director, Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting

‘Conduct Risk’ is now a major area of focus for global regulators with increasing attention from the Japanese authorities. Conduct risk affects a wide range of activities carried out within firms such as regulatory reporting, financial crime and ensuring the robustness of systems infrastructure. The realization of conduct risk can have a significant negative impact on the activities of a regulated firm and the wider financial system. This is why global and national regulatory bodies expect that combatting conduct risk is an integral part of a firm’s risk management framework.

Two presenters from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu will highlight the latest global regulatory initiatives targeting conduct risk and their implications. They will also discuss how conduct risk is being considered by the Japanese authorities and their expectations of regulated firms.

A brief primer on the evolution and drivers of conduct risk.
Global and local regulatory approaches and important recent developments.
Effective Governance to meet the expectations of both local and global regulators.
Key Challenges and Insights for implementation in the Japanese context.
