Next gen markets: The rise and reality of tokenization and the use of AI across the trade lifecycle

With Japan FinTech Week in full swing here in Tokyo, today IBA Japan hosted a roundtable lunch briefing with Broadridge on tokenization and the use of AI across the trade lifecycle.

Roger Burkhardt, Head of AI and Chief Technology Officer for Capital Markets at Broadridge, shared practical perspectives with senior IBA Japan member representatives on where tokenization is gaining traction across public and private markets, and what it takes to move from pilots to production, including governance, security, operating model readiness, and the related regulatory considerations around classification, controls, custody, and operational resilience.

In parallel, we also discussed how generative and predictive AI are being applied across trading, post trade, and operations, and why AI governance and risk management matter as adoption expands.
