IBA Japan 2026 Summer Reception

Last week, IBA Japan held its annual Summer Reception at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu, welcoming over 230 leaders from across the financial industry.

The room reflected the full breadth of the domestic and foreign industry, from banks, securities firms, asset managers and insurers to regulators, central bankers, ministry officials, academics and fintech professionals, representing every stage of the trade lifecycle.

In his address, Mr. Toshiyuki Miyoshi, Vice Minister for International Affairs at the Financial Services Agency, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors. Laurent Depus, Secretary General of the IBA, spoke to the launch of a new membership category for overseas institutions and IBA Japan's joint efforts with Japanese market associations as examples of that collaboration in practice.

The focus of the evening, however, was on connecting everyone in a rare informal setting. That energy carried through to the end, with guests staying well past the formal programme, a testament to the quality of the conversations and connections made on the night.

IBA Japan would like to thank all who joined us, and looks forward to seeing you at the next event.
