Who we are

IBA Japan

IBA Japan is the trade association for foreign banks, securities firms, and asset management companies operating in Japan. Established in 1984, it is the only association in Japan representing the foreign financial community across the investment chain, including banking, securities, and asset management. Our membership spans a wide range of institutions, from the world's largest financial groups to specialised firms with targeted business activities in Japan.

We are also supported by associate members from across the professional services sector, including law, accountancy, consulting, technology, and financial infrastructure, who contribute to the broader financial ecosystem. In addition, our Overseas Member/Preparation Company category is open to foreign financial institutions not yet established or licensed in Japan that are considering entry into the market, providing practical insight into regulatory frameworks, policy developments, market-entry considerations, and industry best practices.

Recognised as a trusted voice within Japan's financial services community, IBA Japan works to promote a strong and efficient market. Our activities are guided by committees and working groups that reflect members' priorities, and we provide a regular programme of briefings, seminars, and events to keep members informed and engaged.
