On Tuesday, IBA Japan was delighted to host JP Biard and Mariko Nakata of LegalOn Technologies for a session on the practical applications of AI in governance, compliance, and legal operations, with a focus on asset management and finance.
The session covered a lot of ground: from how AI is moving beyond experimentation and into live workflows at financial institutions, to real-world use cases in entity and fund management, board operations, contract review, and compliance screening. A particularly engaging part of the discussion explored how leading asset managers are using AI to streamline governance across complex, multi-jurisdictional fund structures, work that was previously managed largely through spreadsheets and manual processes.
The Q&A that followed reflected the genuine interest among our members in understanding not just what AI can do, but where the practical entry points are for their own organisations.
