Voices from GFTN Forum Japan 2026 – Trends in AI, Tokenization and the Big Asset Shift

On May the 21st, IBA Japan welcomed members to a wrap-up session with the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), distilling insights from the GFTN Forum Japan 2026, the flagship anchor event of Japan Fintech Week 2026, spanning 72 sessions.

Discussions touched on a range of themes including Japan's evolving stablecoin regulatory landscape, the intersection of digital assets and agentic AI, financial inclusion amid shifting geopolitical dynamics, and cybersecurity as an increasingly important consideration for financial institutions.

We would like to thank Mr. Pieter Franken, Representative Director of GFTN Japan, and Ms. Kyoko Altman for sharing their time and insights with our members, and to the GFTN team for their generous hospitality. We look forward to continued collaboration and to bringing our members more opportunities to engage with the issues shaping the future of financial services in Japan and across the region.
