Chair: Alberto Tamura

Alberto Tamura is Chair of the International Bankers Association of Japan and a member of the Executive Committee. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley Japan Holdings Co., Ltd.

Alberto Tamura is the Representative Director, President & CEO of Morgan Stanley Japan Holdings Co., Ltd and Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities Co., Ltd. , and Director and Chairman of Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co., Ltd. He is also a member of Morgan Stanley’s Management Committee.

Alberto joined Morgan Stanley in November 1996 and was promoted to Managing Director in December 2003. He served as the Head of the Institutional Equity Division from April 2008 for 11 years before assuming his present role in April 2019.

Alberto serves as a Director of the U.S.-Japan Business Council.

Alberto was born and raised in Cali, Colombia. After graduating from high school in Colegio Bolivar (American School) in 1984, Alberto attended Brown University in the U.S. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1988, and took residence in Japan immediately thereafter.

 

 

 

Vice-Chair: Zenji Nakamura

Zenji Nakamura is UBS Group’s Japan Country Head. He additionally serves as Chairman and Representative Director of UBS Securities Japan Co., Ltd., Representative in Japan and Japan Country Head of UBS AG, Tokyo Branch, as well as President of UBS SuMi TRUST Wealth Management Co., Ltd.  He is also Vice-Chair for Member Affairs and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Bankers Association of Japan.

Nakamura joined UBS in 2010 as head of the firm’s Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities unit in Japan. Two years later he was named Japan Country Head, as well as President and Representative Director of UBS Securities Japan Co., Ltd. He also sits on UBS's Asia Pacific Executive Committee.

Nakamura launched his career with Nomura, serving in its Tokyo, London, and New York offices in an array of senior roles, including Head of Global Fixed Income and International Head in its Global Markets division. He was appointed an executive officer of that firm in 2006 and senior managing director in 2008.

He holds a master’s degree from Waseda University.

 

 

 

 

Vice-Chair (Finance & Administration): Bruno Gaussorgues

Bruno Gaussorgues is a member of the International Bankers Association of Japan’s Executive Committee, and Vice-Chair overseeing Finance and Administration. He serves as Group Country Head for Japan and President and Representative Director of Société Générale Securities (Japan) Limited, as well as Branch Manager of Société Générale, Tokyo Branch.

Bruno joined Société Générale in 2010 and has held key roles in market risk, including Co-Head of Market Risk (2012–2015) and Head of Risk on Capital Market Activities and ALM (2015–2021). In September 2021, he was appointed Group Country Head for Japan, assuming his current leadership responsibilities.

Prior to Société Générale, Bruno held senior risk management roles at Natixis, ENGIE, Crédit Agricole CIB, and LCL, with experience spanning Paris and London. He has been a member of the International Bankers Association of Japan since 2021 and holds a master’s degree in finance from HEC Paris.

 

 

 

 

 

Senior Executive Officer: Philippe Avril

Philippe Avril is Senior Executive Officer of the International Bankers Association of Japan (IBA Japan) and a member of the Office of the Chair. He was previously IBA Japan Chair and Representative Director. Philippe has had a long and distinguished career in financial services in Japan. He began his career as a derivatives trader in Paris in 1985 specializing in financial derivatives.

From 2009, he was heading the BNP Paribas Group in Japan, serving as CEO (then Chairman) and Representative Director, BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) Limited, and Chief Country Officer, BNP Paribas, Tokyo Branch. He has also been a member of general management at Banque Indosuez, Deutsche Bank, Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Commerzbank, and the Royal Bank of Scotland in offices including Paris, Tokyo, New York, Frankfurt, and Hong Kong.

He has spent over 30 years working in Japan and is the author of several books and articles on Japanese equity derivatives and the Japanese financial industry. Philippe received the award of ‘The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon' (旭日中綬章) from the Japanese Emperor in 2019 for his contribution to the Japanese financial services industry.

Philippe graduated with degrees in mathematics, physics, economics and political sciences from Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique, Institut d’ Etudes Politiques de Paris and the University of Paris-Dauphine.
