Chairman: Jonathan B.Kindred
Jonathan B. Kindred is Chairman and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Bankers Association of Japan. He is President & Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley Japan Holdings Co., Ltd., President & Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities Co., Ltd., and Chairman of Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co., Ltd. He is also a member of Morgan Stanley’s global Management Committee.
Jon joined Morgan Stanley as an Analyst in New York in July 1983. In May 1985 he transferred to the Firm’s London office where he worked as a trader in the global asset swap business of the Fixed Income Division. In January 1989 he transferred to Tokyo to assume responsibility for structuring private debt placements in Japan. Jon rose to increasingly senior roles including Head of Structured Transactions Asia from 1993-2000 and Head of Fixed Income Asia from 2000-2006.
Jon presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Japan Society of New York. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S.-Japan Business Council, and as a Trustee of The American School in Japan.
Jon is a graduate of the Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania where he was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar and received a Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) in Economics. He and his wife Sachiko have two adult daughters and reside in Tokyo, Japan.
Vice Chairman: Philippe Avril
Philippe Avril is Vice Chairman of Member Affairs and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Bankers Association of Japan. He is the CEO and Representative Director of BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) Limited and Chief Country Officer of BNP Paribas, Tokyo Branch.
Philippe joined the financial industry as a derivatives trader in Paris in 1985. He has worked as a specialist of financial derivatives and as a member of general management at Banque Indosuez, Deutsche Bank, Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Commerzbank and the Royal Bank of Scotland in offices including Paris, Tokyo, New York, Frankfurt and Hong Kong. He has spent over 20 years working in Japan and is the author of several books and articles on Japanese equity derivatives and the Japanese financial industry.
Philippe graduated with degrees in mathematics, physics, economics and political sciences from Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique, Institut d’ Etudes Politiques de Paris and the University of Paris-Dauphine
Vice Chairman: Richard J. Fogarty
Richard J. Fogarty is Vice Chairman of Finance & Administration and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Bankers Association of Japan, He is senior vice president and head of State Street Global Services in Japan.
Mr. Fogarty was appointed in January 2011 as the representative director and president of State Street Trust and Banking Co., Ltd. (SSTB). In that capacity he is responsible for the management and executive control of SSTB's investment servicing business in Japan.
Previously he served as the director of operations and chief operating officer for SSTB since March 2009. Prior to that assignment, he had managed State Street's global custody business in Japan and served as a director of State Street K.K.
Prior to joining State Street in Japan in 2006, Mr. Fogarty was based in New York where he worked in client service and relationship management roles. He joined State Street in 2003 through the company's acquisition of Deutsche Bank's global custody business and has over 20 years of asset servicing experience in a wide range of roles at companies including Bankers Trust Company, Toyo Trust Company of New York and Irving Trust Company.
Mr. Fogarty holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Economics from Fordham University
