Guest Speaker:  Mr. Richard Kershaw, Senior Analyst, Hill & Associates Japan K.K.

 

For financial institutions, the safety and security of business critical information assets are essential. Mr. Kershaw from Hill & Associates Japan K.K. highlighted the process and role that information assurance plays to assist businesses to protect and guarantee the quality of their data. Furthermore, the impact of the impending Personal Data Protection Law from April 1st has forced companies to internally examine how they handle and treat client information. Also, Brian Kelly returned to provide a Japanese threat assessment outlining the various manmade and natural disasters that can threaten the domestic business operations and imperil assets and personnel.

 

Since 1996, Richard has been working in Japan-focused businesses and has a variety of information security experience from both a policy and technology perspective. He has written corporate policy in English and Japanese for a Japanese engineering multinational, information security-related acceptable usage policies for corporate assets and ISO 17799 compliant global policy and standards for a Japanese automobile manufacturer. Richard holds undergraduate and masters degrees in History from the University of Oxford and a First in postgraduate Japanese from the University of London.
