Comolebi-kai
Since September 2002, Comolebi-kai (or the Bank Compliance Officers Forum) has met monthly to provide opportunities for bank compliance officers to meet and discuss pertinent compliance-related issues. In this off-the-record roundtable forum, members can suggest agenda topics, raise questions and speak freely on sensitive issues that specifically impact their daily working lives.
In the ever-changing Japanese regulatory environment, Comolebi-kai serves as a clearinghouse for the exchange of ideas and opinions where all members openly participate. In this contributing spirit, participants may relate previous regulatory inspection experience on a generic basis for goodwill and educative purposes only.
In order to avoid any potential misunderstandings, participants are advised to inform their respective superiors that they are attending this forum. With the mobile nature of incoming and outgoing senior bank executives in Japan, members need to consistently reconfirm their Comolebi-kai participation with their senior managers. Overall, Comolebi-kai is an IBA initiative where everyone is openly participating with the single goal of allowing the attending individual to return to his or her office with a better understanding on how to improve and enhance their respective firm's compliance function.
