Financial Business Environment in Japan:
Current Progress and Future Change
by FSA Commissioner Sato
On June 22, the IBA organized a luncheon attended by 130 people with FSA Commissioner Sato at the Hotel Okura. This was Dr. Sato's third speech as Commissioner to the IBA.
There were three components to the speech: a progress report on the FSA's "Better Regulation" initiative; an overview of the Better Market Initiative (BMI) and its implementation; and a prognosis for future regulatory changes arising from the global financial crisis.
