In order to enhance the autonomy of its self-regulatory function, the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) chose to delegate its self-regulatory activities to a more independently managed corporation, TSE Regulation, which began operations in November 2007. We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Hayashi, President of Tokyo Stock Exchange Regulation, to give his first speech to the IBA. Specifically, Mr. Hayashi will:

  • provide an overview of the current role and priorities of
    TSE Regulation; and
  • discuss the future direction of TSE Regulation.

Mr. Hayashi has served as President of TSE Regulation since it began operations in November 2007. He had an illustrious career as a senior government official, culminating in his service from 2003 to 2005 as the Ministry of Finance’s Administrative Vice Minister. After retiring from the MOF, he served as Chairman of the Japan Investor Protection Fund. He is a graduate of the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law.
