2009 BSC GMs Meeting and Reception
The IBA’s Banking Sector Committee held its fourth “General Managers Meeting and Reception” on February 25 at Standard Chartered Bank’s Priority Banking branch in Marunouchi. Over 40 people, including 28 GMs, attended the meeting which featured a keynote address by Mr. Masamichi Kono, Deputy Director General of the FSA’s Supervisory Bureau. Mr. Kono discussed the global financial crisis, lessons from Japan’s recent experience and international measures to improve and enhance the regulatory framework. A lively question and answer session followed.
After the speech, more than 70 people attended a reception for GMs as well as other senior IBA member bankers and high-ranking officials from the FSA, BOJ and SESC. This opportunity for IBA member bankers and senior government officials to speak directly to one another in a relaxed setting proved extremely constructive and contributed to the IBA and FSA's shared goal of raising the level of dialogue between the government and market participants.
