Two financial industry specialists from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu will summarize the results of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) March 2008 evaluation of Japan, which revealed that Japan was well behind its OECD and G7 peers. While describing the current gaps between the practices of Japanese and global financial institutions, Mr. Pulido and Mr. Aritomo will share their insights on:
- the key shortcomings in Japan's current anti-money laundering (AML) regime;
- the relationship between corruption and the likelihood of money laundering; and
- the areas where Japan will need to improve in order to achieve a higher global ranking.
