This new full day course in English is designed for non-Japanese speaking employees of foreign banks requiring an introduction to the legal, regulatory and compliance framework for foreign banks in Japan. This training combines a text-based lecture with hands-on practical case studies so that participants can increase their understanding of key compliance issues. Please see here for the course outline.

Mr. Uchida has given similar training to the IBA’s membership in Japanese three times in the past year. Of participants submitting evaluation forms after his most recent course, 90% recommended it, and several requested an English version of the course.

Mr. Uchida worked for more than 20 years in Tokyo, Washington D.C., New York and Los Angeles with the Bank of Tokyo and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, where he established the head office’s compliance department in 1998-2000. After leaving the bank, he worked in Tokyo for Anderson TLBA (as a Director) and KPMG Business Assurance Co., Ltd (as COO for LRM Division). In 2003 he established his own company, MDP Business Advisory, which is the successor company to KPMG Legal Japan. Mr. Uchida has been Editor in Chief of the Compliance Officers’ Examination Textbook issued by the Japanese Regional Bankers Association since 2005. He is registered as an attorney in New York State.
