Building Stakeholder Trust Through Modern Communications

Guest Speaker:

Mr. Robert Pickard

President (North Asia), Edelman

(This presentation was conducted in English)

Drawing upon recent proprietary research on the drivers (and destroyers) of trust, Mr. Pickard delivered a data-driven prescriptive outline of the strategies and tactics that financial services organizations should employ to ensure the most effective protection and promotion of their corporate image in today's restless and ultra-competitive communications landscape. This outline included:

  • The rising relevance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to internal and external communications
  • Insight about how social media and bloggers are both a challenge and an opportunity
  • What journalists want and how to make the most of media relations

Mr. Robert (Bob) Pickard is President, North Asia, of Edelman ( www.edelman.jp ), one of the leading global PR firms. He has over two decades of public affairs and PR experience, and was instrumental in establishing Edelman's presence in Japan and the North Asian region. Prior to joining Edelman, he was executive vice-president of Environics Communications, a PR agency he co-founded in 1994. Earlier, he was a vice president at Hill and Knowlton Canada and was a member of the Canadian delegation to the United Nations Earth summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and has served on the staff of several senior Canadian Cabinet Ministers, including Canada's 16th Prime Minister.
